About us
The Institute of Polymer Nanotechnology (INKA) at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW), School of Engineering in Windisch has established itself as a specialized competence center for plastic surfaces. As a competent partner for surface finishing technologies, we support companies from all over Switzerland and neighboring countries in the development of innovative products and processes from the idea to the realization.
INKA has in-depth expertise in the fields of materials science, plastics technology, microtechnology and mechanical engineering. The interdisciplinary team is organized in the two competence fields of surface structuring and surface functionalization. The activities at INKA complement each other perfectly with our partner Institute of Polymer Engineering (IKT). In the field of laser micromachining, we cooperate very closely with the Institute for Product and Process Engineering (IPPE).
The jointly operated modern laboratory infrastructure covers the most important processes of plastics processing (injection molding, extrusion, fiber spinning, thermoforming), material development (synthesis, compounding, recycling), additive manufacturing, classical plastics analysis as well as component testing. At INKA, the focus is particularly on industrial replication processes, various coating technologies, material modification with functional fillers and atmospheric plasma technology. In addition, we offer state-of-the-art surface analysis with resolutions down to the submicrometer range.
For optimal collaboration with industrial partners, we are happy to draw on the broad competence network within the FHNW School of Engineering as well as our wider network in academia and industry.
We would be happy to discuss your concerns and challenges with you. Visit us at our booth in Lucerne or at any time on site in Windisch.
